Beer in Pittsburgh
It has been said that Pittsburgh is a drinking town with a football problem.
Whether it is one or two drinks after work at happy hour, or a night bar hopping in the South Side, Pittsburghers love to get their drink on.
I am no different.
Though I am partial to craft beers, there are days that I will settle for a commercial light beer. Some days I will turn my nose up to a Miller Lite, while other days I just don’t want a Troegg’s Nugget Nectar and a I.C. Light is perfectly fine.
Depending on your mood for drinks, you will need to find the right bar for your beer drinking experience. Whether it is picking on six-packs, or a night of sampling beers from all over, I am going to try to help with my list of favorite Pittsburgh watering holes.
Craft Beer in Pittsburgh
Craft beers have really taken hold to a population of beer drinkers in recent years. Once ago Yuengling was considered different and hard to find in certain areas. Now there are beers from all over the world with names such as Victory Hop, Racer 5 IPA and Elliot Ness to name just a few.
Depending on your taste, you might be looking for the most bitter beer made, or you would just like an amber ale with some balance. With the popularity of craft beers on the rise, there are a few bars and beers stores in the area that will quench your thirst.
Other Beer in Pittsburgh
Sometimes you don’t care about the beer selection as much. You might be just heading out to meet a group of friends for wings or need a quick six pack stop. There are plenty of bars in Pittsburghthat will satisfy your thirst for all occasions, and I will list my favorites on this site as well.
Pittsburgh Beer Breweries
For the longest time, Pittsburgh Brewery and Rolling Rock were the only beers that were associated with Pittsburgh. It might be true that you still can’t “pump an Iron too far away from Pittsburgh, Pa”, there are also other smaller breweries around the area that pump out some tasty beverages.
I will soon post about my favorite places around town below, stay tuned……
